Elmsford - William Francis Scazzero 90, of Elmsford, N.Y. died on March 23, 2018 at his residence. He was born on Feb. 29, 1928 to the late Anthony and Julia (nee Sacco) Scazzero in Bronxville, N.Y. He proudly served in the US Army during the <a id="InlineMicrositeLink_Korean_War" class="MicrositeKeyword" style="outline: 0px; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; border: 0px; font: inherit; vertical-align: baseline; color: #034e83; word-break: break-all; display: inline-flex;" title="Visit Korean War Memorial Site to see similar profiles" href="http://www.legacy.com/memorial-sites/korean-war/?personid=188559473..." target="_blank">Korean Conflict</a>. He is survived by his wife of 65 years Elizabeth Fogg Scazzero, sons Tony (Sue Ann), Allen and Verne, grandchildren William (Shelley), Anthony, Jennifer, Sophia, Alessandro, great grandchild, Julia, brother Dominick (Marilyn) and a large group of nieces, nephews and their children whom he loved and enjoyed immensely. He was predeceased by his daughter, Irene, sisters, Theresa and Lydia, and brother, Archie. He graduated from Tuckahoe High School, Agriculture Technical Institute in Canton, N.Y. and from Cornell University with a Bachelor in Agricultural Science and an MBA. He worked at General Foods, Continental Baking and was founder and owner of the Valhalla Station Restaurant. He served in Rotary, The Pocantico Hills School Board, the Cornell Club, the Food Service Executives Assn. and volunteered to operate the Westchester County Prison Farm Program. Bill (Uncle Willy) was a renowned athlete in football (Cornell Championship Team 49 50) and baseball and loved to pass on his knowledge and love for sports at every opportunity. He had many interests and hobbies, most notably food, which he shared with an unrestrained abundance at celebrations. Always generous with his time and talents, he had a genunine interest in and canny insight into people, making him popular across all generations of his own family and an important figure in the lives of many others. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday April 14th at 11AM at the Union Church of Pocantico Hills. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Union Church of Pocantico Hills or the Hospice of Westchester, would be appreciated.
