"JFYI- the file on Wm Smothers of VA, is a BLACK negro md to Nancy Brown. I know of him because prior folks in my Smeathers family used this fella's military records to get into DAR under our William Smeathers. This Smothers never left Virginia and he was illiterate and a labourer."
