About William Thomas Sweatt
From Laurel Notley:
There is also a story regarding Wm Sweatt Sr. He was shot to death in a drive-by shooting on the main street of Seminole. My mother told me it was told to her; it happened before she was born. I thought it might have been another of the great grandfathers but they died long after she was born. So it was Wm. Sweatt she was talking about. I haven't checked records in the Seminole Producer (the newspaper), nor the police dept nor the funeral home about it though.

The story implies Templeton was dating the Marshall's daughter but, according to the Sweatt family, he had really raped her.
