  • (19) John19 Wentworth, Esq. was Sheriff of Essex in 1593, and was buried at Gosfield 11 February 1613-14. He married Cecilia, daughter and coheir of Sir Edward Unton, Knight of the Bath, by his wife Lady Anne Seymour, daughter of Edward, Duke of Somerset. She survived him, and remarried Sir Edward Hoby, Kt., of Bisham, co. Berks, who died in 1617. She died at Bisham, 16 June 1618, aged 57, and was buried at Aston Rowant, co. Oxford. By her, John19 Wentworth had issue as follows : —
    • 1. John,20 of whom hereafter.
    • ' 2. William20, baptized at Gosfield, 2 September 1588, and buried at All Saints, Sudbury, co. Suffolk, 20 November 1604.
    • 3. Mary20, baptized at Gosfield, 30 November 1585, who died young.
    • 4. Anne20, baptized at Gosfield, 3 March 1589-90, and married there, 11 April 1608, to Sir Edward Gostwick, Kt. and second Bart., of Willington, co. Bedford. She survived him, and died 6 July 1633.
    • 5. Diana20, baptized at Gosfield, 30 November 1591, and married, at St. Dunstan in the West, London, 10 May 1608, to Lewis Bowles, Esq., of Hertfordshire, whom she survived. She proved her sister Catherine's20 Will 5 December 1659.
    • 6. Cicell20, baptized at Gosfield, 12 August 1593, and married at St. Mary Magdalen, Milk street, London, 19 February 1608-9, to Sir Thomas Finch, Kt., who succeeded his mother as Earl of Winchilsea, and died in 1640. Her Will, dated 17 May, was proved 1 December 1642.
    • 7. Elizabeth20, baptized the 19th, and buried at Gosfield 21 September 1598.
    • 8. Catherine20, baptized at Gosfield, 26 November 1601. She died unmarried, and was buried at St. Leonard's, Shoreditch, co. Middlesex, 6 October 1659.
    • The eldest and only surviving son,
    • (20) Sir John20 Wentworth, of Gosfield, was knighted 23 July 1603, and advanced to a baronetcy 29 June 1611. He died, without surviving male issue, in October 1631, and the baronetcy became extinct. He married Catherine, second daughter of Sir Moyle Finch, Kt. and Bart., of Eastwell, co. Kent (and sister of the Earl of Winchilsea, who married her husband's sister Cicell20, .....
