About Wilma Lee Taylor

Wilma Taylor Yance, a former resident of the Pleasant Plains Community near Columbia, died early Wednesday afternoon, July 3, 2019, in the Extendicare Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born on August 26, 1922, to the late Hiram Harvey Taylor and Lillie Webb Taylor. She was a faithful member of the Pleasant Plains Baptist Church until she could no longer attend. During her younger years, she owned and operated Wilma’s Flower and Gift Shop.
Graveside services will be held at 4:00 P.M. Thursday, July 11, 2019, in the Pleasant Plains Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Larry Adams officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 4:00 P.M. Thursday in the church sanctuary. Holman-Headland Mortuary and Cremations is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Resource Center, P.O. Box 1170, Dothan, AL 36302.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 51 years, E.J. Yance, an infant son, David Yance, and her four brothers, Herman Taylor, Harvey Taylor, Reverend Harold Taylor, and Wallace Taylor.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Rex and Judy Yance, Dothan, AL; two grandchildren: Chad Yance, Surprise, AZ and Dana Yance Wright (Brad), Dothan, AL; three great-granddaughters, Mary Oliver Wright, Whiddon Wright and Sara Hart Wright; a sister, Marjorie Odom, Huntsville, AL; and sisters-in-law, Lillie Taylor, Columbia, AL; Mary Ann Taylor, Ft. Lauderdale, FL; Agnes Yance, Dothan, AL; and Gwendolyn Yance, Marco Island, FL.
