About Wm. Jeff Salmons
William Jefferson Salmons was born in November 1898 in West Virginia. He was the son of William J. Salmons and Frances "Fannie" Browning. He was known as "Jeff" by his family. He married Addie (unk.). William J. Salmons died January 28, 1941, in Hamlin, Lincoln County, West Virginia. According to his death certificate, he died of influenza complicated by interstitial pneumonia. He had been sick for six days at the time of his death.
William J. Salmons appeared on the 1900 US Census for Putnam County, West Virginia, listed as William J. age 1 born November 1898 living in home of father. He appeared on the 1910 US census for Lincoln County, West Virginia, listed as William J. age 11 living in home of father. He appears in the 1920 US Census for Lincoln County, listed as William J. age 41 (this is clearly an error on the part of the enumerator), living in the home of his parents, and working as a laborer in the gas fields.
