"Appearantly [sic], the Hochstetters where [sic] a wealthy family. They had contacts to families in Laupheim, the hugest jewish [sic] community in Wurttemberg. One son of Simson, Wolf Hofheimer, who had learned cottonweaver, was a relative of a banker named Benedict in Stuttgart (see Stadtarchiv Munsingen B bu 37, fo. 10-11). He changed later to Laupheim. When the jews got the full civil rights in Buttenhausen in the year 1849, the Hochstetters where [sic] set in the class of the wealthiest jews, who payed [sic] the highest fees." (Roland Deigendesch, personal correspondence with Louis Julian Hoechstetter, August 16, 1995, copy in LJH book)
It appears that the use of the name Hofheimer above was likely a typo/error, and it is unknown as of 10/3/2012 whether or not the rest of the information is accurate.
Wolf did live in Laupheim, though, with his wife who was born there, and they apparently had no children, per Ralph Baer's Hofheim Family Tree. (note - /s/ Wendy Hoechstetter, 3 Oct. 2012)
