Zordia Pearl Rachel Mackie

"Zordia Pearl Rachel McCauley was a Nurse Aide at the Duncan Polio Hospital for 13 years. She suffered many losses in her life; her younger brother died at just seven months old, her mother when Zordia was just six years old, an older brother would be killed whilst riding his bicycle to work, and Zordia herself would suffer the loss of her daughter at just four months old. My Aunty Zordia was a kind, caring woman with a soft spot for children. This is the eulogy that I gave at her funeral and as her casket left the venue it was to the sound of an emotional haka given by friends and whānau."
