Born on 29th October 1917 at Birpur Dehradun in a wealthy and highly respected business family of army contractors known for ethics and high values.

While in college associated him self and took active part in the freedom struggle movement firstly at Dehradun and then Chatagong (now in Bangladesh).where he was arrested in 1933.

A name to be reckoned with he was a very considerate man and always went out of the way to offer a helping hand to the needy. He was closely associated with several social organizations.

He started independent wholesale business in 1938. In 1942 he secretly started publication of a news paper ‘Dhindhora’ highlighting government atrocities and supporting independence movement. The paper had to be closed down due to a few jealous grain merchants who reported the location of publication to the government authorities when they were refused partnership by him in the sole distribution rights of rice to the government. Although nothing was recovered during the raids by the authorities he was sent to jail and released after a month. The license was subsequently cancelled and the government even stopped payment of Rs 80,000/

Elected as President of wholesale dealer’s association and remained there for 20 years. He was also associated with educational institutions and was elected as member of the governing body of Hindu National School, Sadhu Ram School and Sanatan Dharam School. He also remained as member of city board of Dehradun for 13 years and as President in 1974. He was also elected as President of the District Congress Committee. He was also elected and remained President of Vaishya Sabha for 20 years. He was being given a pension by government of Uttar Pradesh as a freedom fighter.

Died peacefully on 23.11.1989. Condolence meetings were held not only by the trade but by the District Congress Committee and the District Administration.
