friend of alfred mills( 1776-1833) who he treated like a son (his grandmother on his fathers side was alfred’s great grandmothers sister ) spent some of his child hood living with uncle (thomas) robinson( happiest days of his life), when 5 years old in the workhouse, northampton at 14 apprenticed to north sea captain and went to balic, on his returnto london his foot run over by a cart.so took to print colouring,worked for R Marshall,printers of 4 Aldermary churchyard 1762 living at garret of mr reves dove court labour in vain hill thames street with brothers thomas, george and edward.(mother dead) when isaac mills returned from the west indies afterwards at boscourt 1775 lived with issac mills at 1 radcliff row for 5 years 1780 went to live near the shepherd and shepherdness and afterwards at 7 queens row Hoxton coloured the finest prints for alderman boydell and most of the best print sellers in london also worked with the new printing in colours. 1788 lived at a house belonging to nurseyman Gammmock, near old ivy house Hoxton 1790 alfred mills comes to live with william alfred in hoxton paxton did a lot of colouring of gainsborough’s paintings 1792 exhibited the view of witney in oxfordshire,the front figure drawn from alfred 1776-1833 1792 met john renton about 15/16 (1790-1840) whom he taught to paint 1792/3 last visit to uncle robinson’s with alfred mills 1795 taught landscape drawing at highgate painted in water colours, admired the dutch school,van gorven, ruysdale 1800 lived at 8 whitmore row hoxton about 1800 he had a child by his housekeeper,sarah mansfield living at 1kingsland green did not marry sarah mansfield as at baptism she appears as sarah mansfield 1801 feb alfred mills returns to work for w a paxton work slowly diminished over the next year 1803 till death painted mostly in oils disinherited his daughter and left his money to his nephew, niece and sister in law buried dec 4th 1808 at brittains yard,church lane, whitechapel, attending funeral were bro thomas paxton,nephew thomas paxton,Issac mills william taylor,elisha wild, john renton and alfred mills will 1.
