I see sites that draw that have Angel Donne, Alderman of London, related to Sir John Donne, of York Castle ... But he seems to have deep Devonshire origins.

Suggestions?

Hi Erica,
I found this...
https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Donne-5#_note-4
which makes me wonder if this is really Aungel Don, the grocer from London who became the Alderman in 1506 and not a descendant of Sir John Donne of York castle but of another John Don/Dun. https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Donne-7
Appreciate any thoughts you may have on this!

Suzanne

It’s perfect! Thank you so much.

Here’s his real father finally.

Erica, That's such a great article. Fascinating. How do you find this stuff!!!
All hints deeply appreciated. BTW I just got Mathieu Brunet dit Letang + Marie Madeleine Blanchard (filles du roi) sorted out to un-conflate. I'm learning!
Best,
