It looks like sons William Garrett and John Garrett, III cannot have been brothers m.

Anyone have insight ?

This site I've been working with today

https://www.werelate.org/wiki/GARRETT_FAMILY_OF_ISLE_OF_WIGHT,_VA

has this John Garrett, which they designate as John Garrett II, as the son of John Garrett I, Privateer who is mentioned in the book below:

https://books.google.com/books?id=rw4mh8C4Uy4C&pg=PA17&lpg=...

If the info I've been looking at is correct, the connections for this John's parents here on Geni would be incorrect and that might account for the non-matching DNA mentioned previously.

Also, I just noticed the geographical differences. Neither of the parents attached to this John were in Virginia, but the John Garrettson I, Privateer died in Virginia, from what I understand of what I've read today, where this John also died.

I didn't see anything about a marriage other than to Elizabeth Ware for this John. So I'm wondering, given the differences, if perhaps another John Garrett who married Nannie Harrison didn't get merged with the one who married Elizabeth Ware. Or else I've just not seen that he was married twice.

Oops, need to make a correction. In looking back over my notes, there is an additional generation.

It goes from this John Garrett III who was married to Elizabeth Ware, his father John Garrett II whose wife is unknown and THEN John Garrett I, Privateer.

Hard to keep the same-name guys straight for so many generations, especially when the site I'm using and Geni have them numbered differently.
