Throughout Gorski Kotar and along the Adriatic Coast, many church records are missing from 1805-1815, which also coincides with the French occupation period (Napoleonic Rule from 1809 to 1814). Is there any connection between these two, as in records were taken by the French, ordered to be destroyed, etc.? Second, most Catholic records in a series begin/end with the year 1858. What is significant about the calendar year 1858? Hvala.
