Looks like his parents are unknown, so is his wife, and his child was William Dunn who married Alice Gray.

Disputed Origins

Some, without source, have claimed that he was born in Yorkshire on 24 August 1606.[4]

This appears to be based on the baptismal record for a Thomas Dunne, son of Thomas Dunne, who was baptized at Brandesburton, Yorkshire, England, on 24 August 1606.[5] However, absent further evidence connecting them, there is no reason to believe that the Thomas Dunne baptized at Brandesburton on 24 August 1606 is the same Thomas Dunn who was transported to Virginia as a boy in 1620 and indentured to Sir George Yeardley. A search of the FamilySearch database "England Births and Christenings, 1538-1975" yields a list of at least 15 different boys named Thomas Dunn/Dunne/Dun baptized in England between 1600-1610, and a birth date of 1606 is inconsistent with the muster record which indicates that the emigrant was 14 years old in January 1624/5. Absent further evidence, the English origins of this Thomas Dunn the emigrant are unknown.

Disputed Spouse

Some researchers incorrectly identify him as the Thomas Dunne who married Anne Greene at St. James, Clerkenwell, London, on 3 September 1620.[6] This Thomas was only 10, and likely already at sea or in the Colony of Virginia at the time.

Others, also without source, identify his spouse as Ann Burgess, and claim they married in Massachusetts in 1639.[4] The original source of this claim is unclear, but it is highly unlikely that a boy indentured as a servant to Sir George Yeardley in James City, Colony of Virginia, in 1624, migrated to Massachusetts to find a wife in 1639, and then returned to Virginia to raise their family. This spouse has been detached. Please do not reattach any spouse without first posting a comment for discussion citing a reliable source.

Disputed Parents

A prior version of this profile identified his parents as Thomas Dunn and Ann Greene, apparently based on a conflation of the Yorkshire baptismal record discussed in the Disputed Origins section and the Clerkenwell marriage record discussed in the Disputed Spouse section above. Those parents have been detached. Please do not reattach any parent to this profile without first posting a comment for discussion and citing a reliable source.

Disputed Children

Some researchers, without source,[7] identify the following as potential children of this Thomas:

Thomas Dunn, b. 1684, Essex County, VA, d. 16 Jan 1772, Surry County, VA.
William Dunn, Sr., b. 1665, Charles City County, VA., d. 1731, South Farnham Parish, Essex Co. VA..
John Dunn, Sr., b. 1645, Charles City, VA, d. 15 Jul 1702, Norfolk Co. VA.
All of these claims appear highly speculative. These three men where born during a range of almost 40 years, the last when Thomas Dunn would have been about 74 years old.

Disputed Death Date

Some, without source, give a death date for him of 1699 in Surry County, Virginia.[4]

Disputed Emigration Record

A prior version of this profile incorrectly stated that he emigrated on the Falcon based on a misreading of this website. That website includes information drawn from Hotten and Coldham; both original sources are cited in the Biography for this profile. Both Hotten and Coldham state that Thomas emigrated on the Temperance in 1620, based on the January 1624/25 muster record.
