I am researching a *different* Henry Emmett Bennett whose daughters Sylvia and Martha Priscilla Bennett were sponsors to the christening of Matilda's daughter Elizabeth Emma Bennett, born 1855 Jamestown St Helena.

*MY* Henry Emmett Bennett was born Henry Emmett (per birth records) 1816 in greater London, married Sylvia Wright in Stepney 1834, had elder daughter Sylvia (the younger) 1834 or 1835, younger daughter Martha Priscilla 1840 same location, and entire family is in the 1841 UK census: Henry Emett age 25, Sylvia Emett age 20, daughter Sylvia age 7, daughter Martha P age 1. In 1846 Henry Emett age 30 of London, wife Sylvia, joins the Royal Navy as "Gunroom Steward" aboard HMS Hound (which vessel was home-ported at Jamestown Saint Helena and went out of service 1851), and between the 1851 census (which lists wife, daughters, and unrelated woman lodger still in London) and 1852 when Henry Emmett has become Henry Emmett Bennett and wife Sylva Bennett dies Jamestown late March 1852, both daughters marry as Bennetts from Jamestown 1856, and Henry Emmett Bennett once of London dies there in 1859.

It's a mystery how he added the Bennett surname—but there was a fellow shipmate aboard the HMS Hound, of roughly equivalent rank (Paymaster & Purser's Steward), one George Bennett, and the Hound crew went through some very dire situations owing to salt rations, rampant disease in the tropics, etc. So perhaps the two bonded?
