I live in NY, and I was in the UK in 1986 on vacation and thought I would visit some old family towns while there, including Middle Chinnock (it's spelled Chinnock, not Chinook by the way). Although it showed where it should be on the map (there was no GPS then) it was not to be found there. The way to find it was to drive from East Chinnock to West Chinnock (or the other way around)--and there it was in the middle, hence the name! It was a small, old village, and I got out and walked around the church cemetery, but the headstones were by then illegible. It's possible they were from the 17th century, the time of John Dodge's father Richard, but the lack of dates made it impossible to know. The church and remaining village architecture looked more 18th century, some of the village 19th if memory serves, although it has been quite a long time.
