His birth is recored in the Rhode Island VItal records as Israel Phillips, son of Catherine Comstock. In the elder Israel's Will dated 16 Jan 1778, he lists his heirs as wife Molly, Israel Phillips alias Comstock son of Catherine Comstock, and daughter Penelope.
Israel Phillips b.1737 and Amity Harris did have a son named Israel. This younger Israel was born 4 Apr, 1866, in Richmond, New Hampshire which this elder Israel and Amity had removed to late 1764 or early 1765, as Israel is documented as voting in a town meeting on 27 Mar 1765. This younger Israel married Mary Smith in 1792 and had 1 son and 6 daughters as documented in his will dated 25 Jul 1813.
