I just merged two profiles of the same person and now his parents are listed twice grabbing the information from both profiles and listing them rather than merging these names also. How can I eliminate this problem? I have see it in other files also where many names of the same person are listed.

Sorry, I don't have an answer for you. I haven't worked much on geni.com since they changed so much of the software - allowing for merges. Good luck!!!

Hi Susan,
the short answer to your question is, you now go and merge each of the parents.... then repeat this for each duplicated profile in your tree. It's easier if you start merging as "high up" (i.e. back in time) as you can, and working down, one branch at a time.

This might seem like a lot of work, but it's well worth it. After all, that is precisely how we all together created an interconnected forest of trees, with ~46 million people in it.

If you have any additional questions, feel free to ask.

Thanks. I'll give it a try.
