About Leon Bramson

Excerpt from Wikipedia article

"Leon Bramson (b. 1869 in Kaunas, then Russian Empire, d. March 2, 1941 in Marseille, France), was a Jewish activist, member of the first elected Russian Parliament in 1906-1907, then a leader and organizer of the World ORT."
"Attorney and member of the Central Committee of the League for the Attainment of Equal Rights for the Jewish People in Russia, he was elected to the 1906 First Duma elections after an electoral agreement made by the General Jewish Labour Bund with the Lithuanian Labourers' Party (Trudoviks).[1]"

Jewish Gen Litvak SIG record of birth in Kaunas, April 17, 1869 (18 Iyar). Father Moisey, son of Borukh. Mother Leah, daughter of Yakov. Father is merchant.

In other sources, his DOB is April 29, 1869. The 12 days difference is easy to explain: Russian Empire used Julian calendar, while countries of West-European Christian tradition (Catholic and Protestant) used Gregorian calendar.

More information about Leon Bramson, his parents, siblings, wife, children, and wife's family, is available on Russian Wikipedia (in Russian)

His grandnephew, Anatoly Markovich Sotnikov, gave the interview, in Russian. It provides info about Leon's death (pneumonia, while traveling from Paris to Marcelle, France) and several rare photographs of Bramson family.

Many sources, e.g. Russian Wikipedia, tell that Leon Bramson's wife was Vera nee Posner. However, on their tombstone her name is Vera nee Bessmertny
