弟玉保，字閬峯。乾隆四十六年進士，入翰林，有才名。高宗親試八旗翰詹，與兄鐵保並被擢，時比以郊、祁，軾、轍。官至兵部侍郎，究心兵家言。川、楚教匪起，嘗願自效行間。會上欲用為巡撫，為和珅所阻，鬱鬱卒，年甫四十。
