In the 1850 U.S. Census for District 1, Carroll County, Tennessee, Aaron and his family were listed in the census as follows: Aaron, 50, Catharine, 45, Jenipher T., 14, Jesse R., 11, Mary L.M., 11, William M., 9, and Joseph J., 6 years old. He was working as a farmer, and was born in North Carolina as was his wife, and all of the children were born in Tennessee. Their children Jenipher and Jesse were listed as male. According to the U.S. IRS Tax Assessment Lists, 1862-1918, for Tennessee, Anderson through Coffee counties, Aaron Branch owned 394 acres which was valued at $788. In the 1870 U.S. Federal Census for District 6, Carroll county, Tennessee, Aaron, 66, was listed with his wife, Catharine, 61 and Jesse Hurdly, 10. At that time his real estate was valued at $500 and his personal estate at $300. Both he and his wife were born in North Carolina and Jesse in Tennessee.
