She was a devoted wife who assisted her husband in his pastoral work. She bore five children, all of whom lived into adulthood. Lewis died early in 1882 at Whitehall, New York. The widowed Abigail set forth to join her brother, Aaron Ladner Lindsley, assisting him in his missionary work in Alaska. She died at Ft. Wrangell, Alaska, in 1884. Abbey died on a visit with her daughter (Fannie Young) in Fort Wrangle, Alaska she had gone the previous year.
