Abe (Avraham Zvi haKohen) Meisels

Abe was born in 1919 in Marisch-Weisskirchen, Czech. His father had been enlisted in the Austria-Hungarian or German army, and transferred with his family from Mosty Wielkie in Galicia. On his birth record, it says in Czech that his father was a "a military scout from Sadowa-Wiszniat" (Czech: váleíný vysléhovaber ze Sadowa-Wisznia). We know he had an office job as a bookkeeper and later the commander's secretary, during WWI.

Abe was very sickly as a baby. Later in America he was drafted into the army in 1942. He was injured when his ship in the Pacific was blown up by the Japs, and miraculously survived.
