6. Abigail b. circa 1674, d. Apr. 11, 1718 at Newton, Mass.; m. Apr. 4, 1704 at Hingham, Mass., Israel Stowell, s. of Samuel Stowell & Mary Farrow. He was b. Aug. 10, 1670 at Hingham, Mass. and d. Aug. 7, 1725 at Newton, Mass. Seven children of the family.

There is controversy over the parentage of David Stowell, Johnathan Stowell, and Nathaniel Stowell as to whether they are sons of Israel Stowell or David Stowell.

Disputed Origins

Mayflower Society does not currently recognize Abigail as a daughter of Lt. Samuel Fuller

Abigail ( ) Stowell is seen in some family trees and in one publication, as being the daughter of Samuel Fuller (abt.1630-1676), with a birth year of approximately 1674. However, a connection between Abigail Fuller (abt.1674-), daughter of Samuel, and Abigail _____ wife of Israel Stowell has not been found. Samuel Fuller's daughter, Abigail Fuller was named in Samuel's will written in 1676, but no further information on her has been found. An extensive investigation of the claim that Abigail Fuller married Israel Stowell was made by the Mayflower Society, which failed to find anything to support it.[1]

While references exist in The Compendium of American Genealogy, The Millennium File, and the US and International Marriage Records 1560-1900, additional proof is required by The Mayflower Society.

Thus, unless reliable evidence is found to support their relationship, Abigail (Unknown) Stowell is not proven to be the daughter of Samuel Fuller (abt.1630-1676) and will not be connected to him as such.
