About Abraham Milgraum
Birth
- May 5, 1892 - birth certificate
- Aug. 10, 1893 (naturalization papers)
- May 15, 1894 (headstone)
Immigration: Feb. 1, 1913 on SS Rhein from Bremen, Germany to Philadelphia. On same boat with sister Reba and aunt Chava and cousins. Rita Palley says her mother Reba told her that Reba and brother Abraham travelled together with Tante Chava Zinn to the US. Chava was going anyway, so they went along so that Abe could avoid the draft. There is a picture on boat as proof.
There are earlier immigration papers of other Abraham Milgraums, maybe cousins with same names. 1903 - Immigrated to US, Philadelphia. Problem--this Abraham Milgraum is listed as 18 in 1903, too old to be this Abe.
Residence:
- Philadelphia (1906, per Reba Alter's immigration papers)
- 8 W. 4th St. New York (Nov. 3, 1916, per citizenship declaration of intent)
- 67 E. 7th St. New York (1920, per citizenship papers)
Buried in Mount Zion Cemetery, Queens. 21R-6-76-530 http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSln=milgraum&GSfn...
Headstone lists father's name as Leib. This was his Yiddish name. His Hebrew name was Yehuda Meir (per Sylvia Friedman)
