Adrian Earl Branch

In the 1900 U.S. Federal Census for Columbia, Maury County, Tennessee, Adrian, 15, was living with his 36-year old divorced mother, Priscilla Branch, 36, and sister, Olive May Branch, 11. Priscilla had been married at the age of 17 and had given birth to two children, Adrian and Olive. Priscilla was working as a dress maker, and Adrian as a planning mill laborer, and Olive was attending school. By 1910, Adrian's mother, Priscilla, 46, had married her second husband, Andrew W. Huggins, 39, and Adrian E., 25, was living with them along with his sister, Olive May Branch Long, 20, and her son, Elmo M. Long, 2 years old. Olive had been married in 1906, but had already divorced her husband. They were living at 64 South Garden Street in Columbia, Maury County, Tennessee, and Adrian was working as a letter carrier.

When Adrian Earl Branch completed his U.S. World War I Draft Registration Card on September 12, 1918, in Columbia, Maury County, Tennessee, he described himself as being of medium height and build with gray eyes and brown hair. He was 33 years old, having been born March 28, 1885, to John Franklin Pierce Branch and his wife, Priscilla James Branch. At the time he was living at 710 N. Main Street in Columbia, Tennessee, with his mother, step-father, Andrew W. Higgins, and sister Olive May Branch. He was working as a city letter carrier for the U.S. Government Post office Department.

In the 1930 U.S. Federal Census, Adrian, 45, was still single and was living with his widowed mother, Priscilla, 66, and his nephew, Elmo, 22, in a home they were renting for $25.00 per month located at 304 4th Avenue. Adrian was still working as a mail carrier for the city of Columbia, and his nephew, Elmo, was working as a clerk in a feed store. Adrian and Olive's mother, Priscilla, passed away in 1937.

In the 1940 U.S. Federal Census, Adrian, 55, was living with his widowed sister, Olive, 50, and her son, Elmo, 32, and daughters Alberta, 20, and Cornelia, 18, and brother, Odell, 16. Olive's husband Albert Grover Wooten, has passed away in 1933 from Hodgekins Disease, from which he suffered for about one year. Adrian owned his own home which was valued at $5,000 located at 74 Lewisburg Pike in Maury County, Tennessee. Adrian had one year of high school, Olive had a 7th grade education. Elmo and Alberta had 4 years of high school, Cornelia had 1 year of high school, and Odell was in the 8th grade. Adrian earned $2,050 income in 1939 working 40 hours per week for 50 weeks. His nephew, Elmo, was working as a bookkeeper, for a livestock farm, and for the 52 weeks om 1939 he worked at 70 hours per week and his income was $1,150.

Adrian Earl Branch passed away in 1962 at the age of 77 in Maury County, Tennessee. His sister Olive passed away the next year on December 3, 1963, also in Maury County, Tennessee, at the age of 73.
