After schooling in Göteborg and Skara he entered the career of pharmacy, Working at various pharmacies in Falköping, Stockholm, Linköping and Uppsala. In the beginning of the 1880s he emigr. to America, being employed in drugstores in a number of places, including the famous Swedish pharmacy in Chicago, owned by the well-known pharmacist Hesseltoth. After additional jobs in Sioux City (Indiana) and Omaha (NE), he settled in Oakland (NE), where he opened his own pharmacy.
He was a collector of wide repute, donating a number of items dealing with natural history to the Luther Academy in Wahoo (NE) and Bethany College in Lindsborg (KS).
He was also known as an accomplished amateur painter.
