Alfred Peaches was born April 28, 1925, in Kayenta on the Navajo reservation in Arizona.

He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, in November 1943. Following radio communication training in Camp Pendleton, Oceanside, California, Alfred served with the 6th Marine Division in Guadalcanal, Okinawa, Saipan and North China.

In March of 1945 he returned to the United States. Alfred remained in the Corps after WWII. In July of 1953 (then Corporal) Peaches, along with the 1st Brigade, 2nd Battalion, D Company, shipped out to the Korean conflict and saw action again. Corporal Peaches returned to the U.S. in 1954 and was discharged from the Marine Corps two years later and returned to Fort Defiance, Arizona.

6th Marine Division/29th Regiment/B-Company

Served in Okinawa , Saipan , Guadalcanal , Tsi-China and the occupation of Japan

Also served in the Korean War

Mr. Peaches now resides in Winslow, Arizona with his wife Jeanette and their two girls and three boys.
