Origins
Edmund Squire was named in the 1563 will of William Sayre as his brother in law. Alice Squire was William's wife. He was also named as "my beloved uncle" in the 1572 will of Alice's son William.
It is through Edmund that Alice Sayre's maiden name has been deduced.
- 1563 will of his brother in law, William Sayre
- 1572 will of his nephew William Sayre
The Bibliography, FindAGrave and Research Notes are at odds concerning her birthplace. One says Hinwick Bedfordshire, the other Benwick, Cambridgeshire. With the date being pre parish registers both are speculative, and in the absence of any evidence, the Benwick birth place looks to be more speculative than Hinwick.
