There are accounts of many Taylors in the early history of Virginia. The Virginia Magazine of History, vol. 35, page 211, 309, 1927, gives a very interesting and comprehensive account of several branches of the Taylor family from which the following brief facts are gleaned. John Taylor was a resident of Northampton County, Virginia as early as 1100 AD. He and his wife Alice both died in 1702. It is claimed that Alice, wife of John Taylor, was the daughter of Thomas Gascoigne, the Immigrant. They had at least five children. He was a Vestryman for Wicomico Parish, Northampton County, Virginia.
