Annie Rouse was born on June 8, 1678 ? married Abraham Howland on December 17, 1703 in Pembroke, Plymouth County, Massachusetts, United States. Together they had the following children:
- Mary (Howland) Mitchell;
- Benjamin Howland;
- Rouse Howland;
- Alice (Howland) Sampson;
- Isaac Howland;
- Content Howland;
- Samuel Howland, of Pembroke;
- Elizabeth (Howland) Bonney;
- Abraham Howland;
- Ann (Howland) Beal;
- Joseph Howland.
She died on June 15, 1745 at Pembroke or Freetown, Bristol County, Province of Massachusetts, Colonial America. VR named her as Ann Howland, widow Rouse.
It is not known for sure which children are from Anne Rouse or Anne Colson, if they are indeed 2 different individuals.
Notes
Abraham Howland, son of Samuel, married about 1700 to Ann Colson, daughter of Nathaniel. She must have died soon, and his second wife, mother of most children, was Annie Rouse.
Anne Rouse(1678-1743) was NOT a known daughter of John Rouse and Elizabeth (Doty) Carver. They are known to have had sons only, who died without children.

Ann is the daughter of Nathaniel Colson and Susanna (Unknown) Colson. Wife of:

The identity of Abraham Howland's wife presented a problem because the early genealogists suggested that Abraham Howland was married twice. They thought that there were two different separate women who married him.
For example, in 1883, William T. Davis wrote that Abraham Howland married Ann, daughter of Nathaniel Colson.[1] In 1885, Franklyn Howland wrote that Abraham Howland married Ann, daughter of Nathaniel Colson, of Newport, Rhode Island, but he added, “If so, she could not have lived, as other records say he married Annie Rouse, who was probably the mother of most of his children, as his first son was named Rouse.”[2]
The research suggests that it remains unknown whether Abraham Howland ever married once or twice. One may wonder whether the two names were referred to the same woman to whom Abraham Howland married once was an Ann Rouse Colson. Which children were from Annie Rouse or Ann Colson remains unknown even if they were two different separate women. Some genealogists believe that all children came from Annie Rouse.[3]
