Leading merchant of Philadelphia.
Anthony Morris Jr. (23 August 1654 – 24 October 1721) was a brewer, Quaker preacher, judge, and mayor of Philadelphia.
Note: Anthony Morris Jr. is denoted as Anthony Morris I resulting from the convention that he is the first Anthony Morris in the New World (despite being a Jr, and thus the second Anthony Morris). His son, Anthony, is known as the second Anthony Morris (in the New World) and also as Anthony Morris III.

Anthony Morris was born to Anthony and Elizabeth (Senior) Morris in Stepney, London, England, August 25, 1654.[1]
He arrived 1678 New Jersey[2]
He became a Philadelphia brewer, wealthy merchant, and civic leader.
Anthony married Mary Jones March 30, 1676.[1] In November 1682 they departed England for America. They had four children born in England, and three born in America.[1]
By 1706, he had remarried to Elizabeth Watson. Anthony and his wife sold property in Sussex, Delaware, to Elizabeth's brother Luke Watson.
Anthony died on 23 October 1721 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania[2] and is buried in Philadelphia, Montgomery, Pennsylvania

Anthony Morris was married four times and had fifteen children. In addition to Mary, who died October 3, 1688, in Philadelphia, his other wives were: (2) Agnes Bom, whom he married on October 28, 1689 in Philadelphia. Agnes died on July 26, 1692, in Philadelphia; (3) Mary Howard Coddington, whom he married on January 18, 1693 or 1694, in Newport, Rhode Island. She died on September 25, 1699, in Philadelphia; and (4) Elizabeth Watson, whom he married on October 30, 1700, in Philadelphia. Elizabeth died on February. 2, 1767, in Philadelphia. Anthony died on October 23, 1721, in Philadelphia.
