30 July 1511: Charter by which Archibald, Earl of Argyll, confirms that he has given various lands in the barony of Skippinnch to his son Archibald Campbell. The lands conveyed included the four merk land of Skippinnich, and custody of the Castle of Skippinnch. The Earl's charter was witnessed by his eldest son and heir Colin Campbell, afterwards Earl of Argyll. It was confirmed under the Great Seal of Scotland on 13 August 1611. 6 September 1531: Charter by which Archibald, Earl of Argyll, confirms possession of the lands of Clauchane in the barony of Roseneath and sheriffdom of Dunbarton, to Archibald Campbell, son of the deceased Duncan Campbell of Clauchane. The Earl's charter was witnessed by Archibald Campbell of Skipinche and others. RMS 1513-46: charter number 1757

1537: Fragment bearing names of four prisoners, including Archibald Campbell of Skipnish, husband of Lady Glamis. Lady Glamis was executed in 1537, after being accused of conspiring to poison James V and her husband fell to his death while escaping from Edinburgh Castle after her trial. This fragment is endorsed "The lord Glamis sall Remaine within ward within the castell of Edinburgh and sall not escaip". National Records of Scotland, Processes, Supplementary, reference JC27/7
