Arnold Verlo Gish, 75, of Modesto died Monday at Doctors Medical Center.

Mr. Gish was a native and lifelong resident of Modesto. He was a self-employed farmer for 60 years. He was on the board of directors of Wood Colony Cemetery and was a charter member of the Westport Volunteer Fire Department, where he served from 1962-78. He belonged to Old German Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Martha E. Gish of Modesto; children, Janice Root of Athens, Wis., and Bonita Boyd of Modesto; brothers, Orvel M. Gish of Claypool, Ind., and Lyle J. Gish of North Manchester, Ind.; sister, Nelda Driver of North Manchester; and 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the West Modesto Old German Baptist Church. Burial at Wood Colony Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Salas Brothers Funeral Chapel, and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Gish home.
