About Arnt Steen Brodtkorb
I was born in Oslo. Lost my father when I was four years old. Lived in Lillehammer from 1907 till 1919 with my mother. I spent a lot of summers in Vardø by my uncle Hemmeing Brodtkorb and his two sons, Erling and Arnt Nicolai. I learned to swim being trown into the sea by my cousins, I had no choice it was a quick learning.
I worked most of my life in the bank Kreditkassen, Oslo and Lillehammer. In Lillehammer I became a bank manager in 1946 and I left the bank being 70 years old.
I took my college (examen Artium) in Lillehammer. I was trade educated in Germany before the second world war.
I took part in war against Germany in 1940 and was taken prioner in Gausdal. Went into the underground movement of Milorg, became leader of the movement for'the western part of Oslo, but had to escape to Sweden in 1943. I was in charge of building up the Norwegian forces in Sweden and became the first officer to land in the north of Norway (Finnmark) in 1944. The pilot of plane was the famous Bernt Balchen.I was captain in the Norwegian Army.
I was very fond of playing tennis and was chairman in the club for several years. Became in the age of 60 clubchampion together with my son Gerhard. (Double). I was playing at the net and he was running around me.
I have had a good life with my wife Ingeborg (born Astrup).
