About Atholene Gale Cornyn

From San Antonio Express-News obituary:

A. Gale Cornyn, loving mother, devoted spouse, and someone who never met a stranger, left this life on April 3, 2009, following a mercifully short illness. Born December 27, 1921 in Robstown, Texas to Ethel and Fred Danley, Gale was married to her husband, John, for more than four decades, until his death in 1989. Following World War II and his captivity as a Prisoner of War after his B-17 was shot down while serving his 26 mission with the 303rd bomb group, 8th Air Force, John Cornyn was assigned to the U.S. Naval Air Station in Corpus Christi. There he met, courted, and married Gale. During John's 31 year career in the Air Force, they lived in Frankfurt, Germany; El Paso, Texas; Biloxi, Mississippi; Washington, D.C.; San Antonio, Texas; and Tokyo, Japan.

In 1974, they retired in San Antonio, Texas, where John Cornyn was employed as a professor of pathology at the University of Texas Health Science Center.

Gale is survived by a daughter, Olivia Diann, and grandson, Gabriel; son, John and daughter-in-law, Sandy and granddaughters, Danley and Haley; and son, Mark.
