About BHAGIRATHA DILEEPA

SAGARA'S GREAT GRANDSON, AFTER STRENUOUSPENANCES, AT LAST SUCCEEDED IN BRINGING GANGA DOWN FROM HEAVEN. WHEN SHE FLOWED OVER THE REMAINS OF HIS ANCESTORS, THEIR SOULS WERE REDEEMED, ANS OCEAN WAS REFILLED.GANGA ALSO BEARS THE NAME "BHAGIRATHI", IN HONOUR OF HIS DEED.

Bhagiratha Shiva bearing the Descent of the Ganges River, as the goddess Parvati, Bhagiratha, and the bull Nandi look on (circa 1740). Bhagiratha (Sanskrit: भगीरथ, bhagīratha) was a great king in Hindu mythology who brought the River Ganges, personified as the river goddess Ganga, to Earth from the heavens. Contents [Early life Bhagiratha was the king of Kosala, a kingdom in ancientIndia. He was a descendent of the great King Sagara of theSuryavamsa, or Sun Dynasty. He was one of the forefathers of Lord Rama, of the Ramayana, the epic in which Bhagiratha's tale is primarily recounted. He lost his father when he was just a child, and was raised by his mother. Bhagiratha was very intelligent, virtuous and kind hearted. When he came of age, Bhagiratha ascended to the throne of the kingdom of Kosala, today located in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. He was a pious, benevolent ruler who adhered to his duties as a king as prescribed by dharma. Bringing the Ganges to Earth Kapila's curse When king Sagara chose to perform the Ashwamedha yagna, his royal agents lost track of the sacrificial horse. Sagara ordered his sixty thousand sons by Sumati to track down the horse. The proud and mercurial princes raged across Bharat, burning down forests and uprooting life and property to find the horse. They finally arrived at a quiet spot where the Sage Kapila was sitting in meditation. Besides him was tied the white horse. The enraged princes condemned Kapila as a thief and attacked him. When the sage opened his eyes, his immense power turned the princes into ashes. Another version has it that Indra who wanted the sage to end Kapila's meditation took the horse and put it in his ashram. It is said that generally the devatas would to stop the rishis from deep meditation so they used to bring something and stop them. One version has it that Kapila told the prince Anshuman, Sagara's grandson (Son of Asamanjan, other son of Sagara who was thrown out of kingdom by him) who had come looking both for the horse and his brothers, that the only way for the souls of the dead princes to ascend to heaven would be through the offering of niravapanjali with the water of the sacred Ganga (Ganges) river, which was flowing only in Swarga. Another version has it that Anshuman was told about the fate of his 60,000 uncles and about relief from Kapila's curse (by Ganga's waters) by Garuda.[citation needed]

"Bhagiratha's Penance", Relief atMahabalipuram. Bringing Ganga back to Earth was a near impossible task and required many years to be spent in tapasya and prayer. The Kosala kings of successive generations could not do this while managing their duties as kings. As a result, the sins of the thousand princes multiplied in their destructive energy, and began resulting in natural disasters. The kingdom began to lose its peace and prosperity, and by the time Bhagiratha ascended the throne, he found it impossible to attempt to govern in this situation, that had only one solution. Turning over the kingdom to trusted ministers, Bhagiratha set off to the Himalayas to perform an arduous tapasya in the extreme climate. For one thousand years, he performed an excruciatingly harsh penance to please Lord Brahma. At the end of the thousand years, Brahma came to him and told him to ask for anything. Bhagiratha asked Brahma to bring down the river Ganges to earth so that he may perform the ceremony for his ancestors. Brahma asked Bhagiratha to propitiate Lord Shiva, for only He would be able to break the Ganga's fall. It was the largest river, and it would be impossible for anyone save Him to contain the destructive impact of this event. Bhagiratha performed a tapasya for Lord Shiva, living only on air. The compassionate Shiva appeared only after a year's penance, and told Bhagiratha he should not have to perform tapasya to accomplish a noble goal such as this. He assured Bhagiratha that he would make Ganga fall. Ganga's fall Shiva stops the ganga After eons of being flattered and praised by the Devas, Ganga had become vain. She scoffed at Brahma when He asked her to flow down to earth, but could not disobey him as he was her father. But Ganga was sure, as much as Bhagiratha was afraid that no one could stop her fall, which would devastate the earth for a long time. As she cascaded across and down from Swarga, Bhagiratha and celestial observers were terrified of the roar and volume of water coming down. But Lord Shiva appeared from out of nowhere and captured all of Ganga just as she launched herself onto earth, in Hisjata.Ganga came to the earth because of Bhagiratha's worship so ganga got the name 'Bhagirathi'. Ganga struggled to set herself free, but Shiva could not be budged. Bhagiratha worshipped Shiva, who let Ganga free after crushing her vanity. She flowed in a destructive manner and destroyed Jhuhnu rishi's ashram. This angered Jhuhnu and took Ganga as aposhanam. Bhagiratha again prayed for Jhuhnu to let out Ganga. Then Jhuhnu let out Ganga.Hence Ganga is also known as Jahnavi. After this Ganga flowed through the asthi of the 60,000 people and brought them sadgati. It is still believed to flow, from Shiva's jata down to earth at a gentler pace. Establishment of the river Bhagiratha leads Ganga. Bhagiratha led the way for Ganga on his chariot, and she followed him across the north and east of Bharat and finally merging with the ocean. In her course she washed the ashes of Sagara's sixty thousand sons, who ascended to heaven while praising and blessing Bhagiratha. [edit]Commemoration For its descent to Earth being owed to Bhagiratha's efforts, Ganga is also known as Bhagirathi (daughter of Bhagiratha) as proclaimed by Lord Brahma. Bhagiratha's own great effort was praised by all the Gods and his ancestors, and is known as a Bhagiratha Prayatna, as proclaimed by Lord Brahma. It is a great inspiration to any man who seeks to do something noble despite facing overwhelming odds. ..

Gangotri, Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand, India

TODAYS CALIFORNIA (USA) IS THE SAME AS CAPILARANYAM OF ANCIENT TIMES (8000 YEARS BACK) , WHERE MAHARISHI KAPILA MUNI’S ASHRAMAM (THE ABODE OF A SAGE) EXISTED.

CAPILARAMYAM COULD HAVE BECOME CALIFORANYAM & THEN NOW CALLED CALIFORNIA. THIS WAS CONFIRMED BY KANCHI PARAMACHARYA, SRI CHANDRA SEKARA SARASWATI (WIDE HIS ‘DEIVATHIN KURAL’ PAGE 132).
AS PER PURANA (ANCIENT HISTORY), ANCIENT KING, SAGARA MAHARAJA, ONE OF THE FAMOUS ANCESTORS ( 20 GENERATIONS BEFORE) OF SRI RAMA AND APPROXMATELY 8000YEARS BACK, WANTED TO PERFORM ‘ASHWAMEDA YAAHA’ (HORSE SACRIFICE), AS HE WANTED TO BE ACKNOWLEDGED & WORSHIPED BY ALL (THE SOVEREIGNTY OVER NEIGHBOURING PROVINCES). AFRAID OF THIS SITUATION AND TO STOP THE YAAHA, INDIRA TOOK THE ‘YAAHA HORSE’, WITHOUT ANYBODY’S KNOWLEDGE AND HIDDEN THE HORSE, INSIDE KAPILA MAHARISHI.S ASHRAMAM (HERMITAGE), IN THE NETHER WORLD.
AS THE ‘YAAHA HORSE’ WAS STOLEN ASWAMEDA YAHAA WAS STOPPED & SAHARA’S 60,000 SONS ALONG WITH THEIR ARMY SEARCHED ALL OVER LAND & FINALLY DUG UP DEEP TO REACH PATHALA (THE NETHER WORLD). THE PATH SAHARA PUTRAS (SONS) DUG UP, WAS LATTER CALLED SAGARAM, (OCEAN). FINDING THEIR HORSE AT KAPILA MUNI’S ASHRAMAM & ASSUMING KAPILA MAHARISHI WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ACTION, HARRASSED MUNI, AND DISTURBED HIS MEDITATION. ANGERED RISHI KAPILA OPENED HIS POWERFUL EYES, THE RAYS OF WHICH BURNT ALL OF THEM IN TOTAL. THIS RESULTED IN HEAPS OF ASHES WHICH LOOKED LIKE A MOUNTAIN & THEIR SOULS COULD NOT REST IN PEACE ON ACCOUNT OF THEIR SINS. NEITHER KING SAGARA, NOR ANY OF HIS SUCCESSORS COULD, LIBERATE THEIR SOULS.
5TH GENERATION FROM SAGARA’S HIERARCHY, KING ‘BHAGIRATHA’, THRU’ HIS LONG (PENANCE) MEDITATION, PRAYED TO LORD SIVA & BROUGHT RIVER GANGA TO EARTH, IN ORDER TO LIBERATE HIS ANCESTORS SOULS TO HEAVEN. RIVER GANGA, AFTER LANDING IN HIMALAYA WENT DOWN FURTHER THRU’ DUG UP SAGARA AND ENCIRCLED THE ASHLAND AT CAPILARANYAM. THE PRESENT ASHLAND & HORSELAND NEAR CALIFORNIA WERE PART OF KAPILA MAHARISHI’S ASHRAMAM AND DIRECTLY OPPOSITE TO THE PLACE WHERE GANGA ORIGINATE (GANGOTRI). IF WE LOOK AT GLOBE, BOTH THE PLACES ARE IN STRAIGHT LINE & AT 30* LATTITUDE.

THERE ARE EVIDENCES TO SHOW THAT THE PLACE WHERE VAMANA (ONE OF THE AVTAR OF MAHAVISHNU) BLESSED KING MAHABALI TO STAY WAS ALSO CALIFORNIA. ANCIENT ‘MAHABALI BUMI’, HAS NOW CHANGED TO MALIPU AS PER LEARNED PEOPLE. THE PLACE MALIPU NAGAR IS SITUATEDAT SANTA MONICA MOUNTAIN RANGE, WHICH IS VERY NEAR TO LOS ANGELS. THE MARVELLOUS LORD VENKATESHWARA’S (PRESENT) TEMPLE ALONG WITH GODDESS ‘ALAMELU MANGAI’ IS SITUATED AT SANTA MONICA MOUNTAIN RANGE, BUILT WITH A COST OF THREE MILLIAN DOLLARS, COLLECTED ENTIRELY FROM DEVOTEES DONATIONS.
