About Bathsheba Doggett

Bathsheba (----) Pratt Daggett was born in England and died after 4 June 1673 in Plymouth, Massachusetts.

"Some sources claim that Joshua Pratt's wife was named Bathsheba Fay. There is no evidence for this, and no Fay family in Plymouth who might have supplied such a wife. This false claim apparently arises from the misinterpretation of the marriage in Marlborough, Massachusetts, of John Pratt and Bathsheba Fay on 4 January 1715/6."

Married 1st: before 1630 in Plymouth, Mass., JOSHUA PRATT

"Administration of his [Joshua Pratt's] estate was granted to his wife Bathsheba on 5 October 1656 (PCR 3:108)-her surname is unknown, and she may have been a second wife. He has been called a brother of Phineas Pratt, q.v., and in the 1623 land division he was paired with Phineas, but proof of a relationship is lacking."
"Pratt children are thought to be Benajah, who married Persis Dunham; Hannah, who married William Spooner; Jonathan, who married Abigail Wood; and Bathsheba, who married Joshua Rice."

Biography

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Unknown-470604

Bathsheba _______, whose birth is estimated at 1610 (20 years before her marriage) married about 1630, Joshua Pratt of Plymouth, Plymouth Colony. This assumes she was his only wife and mother of his children.[1]

There were not a lot of women available in Plymouth to marry. No one named Bathsheba was listed in the 1627 cattle division, when Joshua was still single. They were married about 1630, which suggests that Bathsheba came in the last group sailing from Leiden in late 1629 and early 1630.[1]

She was granted administration of his estate, 5 Oct 1656.[1]

After the death of Joshua, Bathsheba married John "Doged" of Martha's Vineyard in Plymouth on 29 Aug 1667.[1]

Bathsheba was still living 4 June 1673, when she exhibited the inventory of her second husband.[2]

Disputed Surname

"Some sources claim that Joshua Pratt's wife was named Bathsheba Fay. There is no evidence for this, and no Fay family in Plymouth who might have supplied such a wife. This false claim apparently arises from the misinterpretation of the marriage in Marlborough, Massachusetts, of John Pratt and Bathsheba Fay on 4 January 1715/6"[1]
