Edward Eason and pregnant wife were aboard the Sea Venture, bound for Virginia Colony, in 1609 when it ran aground during a storm. Bermuda was born on the island where his parents were stranded, and was named for the island. He was baptized 3/25/1610, witnessed by Capt. Christopher Newport, William Strachey, and James Swift, who all served as godfathers.
