About Betty June Coffey Dameron
Betty June Coffey Dameron, 77, passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully on July 7, 2012.
Betty was born on June 3, 1935 and lived most of her adult life in Chancellor. She graduated from Mary Washington College in 1968 with a Bachelor of Arts degree and achieved a Master's Degree in Liberal Studies in 1989. Betty taught French and English at Stafford Senior High School for 33 years until she retired in 2001. During her lifetime, she was a classical concert pianist, showed thoroughbred hunters, and was a long-distance competitive runner.
Survivors include her four children, Bambi Dameron Payne, Debbie Dameron Slingerland and her husband Richard Slingerland, Cliff Dameron and Pastor GW Dameron and his wife Carrie Dameron; eleven grandchildren, Melanie Bolas and husband Steven Bolas, Hollis Phillips and husband Steven Phillips, Owen Payne, Arnie Slingerland, Meagan Best and husband Aaron Best, Dustin Dameron, Adrian Dameron, Sierra Dameron, Abby Rae Dameron, Emma Dameron and Hope Dameron; three great-grandchildren, Sean Bolas, Daniel Bolas and Anthony Best.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Willard, her parents, J. Wilson Coffey and Elizabeth Coffey, and her son-in-law, Matthew Payne.
A service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 14, at St. Matthew Catholic Church in Spotsylvania with Father Paul Eversole officiating.
A private graveside will be held at Laurel Hill Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will include Richard Slingerland, Owen Payne, Pastor GW Dameron, Steven Phillips, Steven Bolas and Colonel (ret) Daniel Bolas.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Orange County Animal Shelter, 11362 Porter Road, Orange, VA 22960, or to the Alzheimer's Association, www.alz.org, in loving memory of her husband.
