MEMORIAL PHOTOS 4 FLOWERS 7 Mother of two Louisiana Governors, Huey Pierce Long and Earl Kemp Long. Huey served as governor from 1928-1932 and was US Senator from 1930 until 1932 when he was assassinated in the state capitol building. Earl served as Governor from 1939-40; 1948-52; 1956-60. He was elected to US Congress but died from a heart attack before assuming office. The 1987 movie "Blaze" starring Paul Newman and Lolita Davidovich was based on Earl's relationship with stripper Blaze Starr.
