Christopher Vance resided in Rockport, Indiana when he enlisted on March 17, 1864 in the Union Army as a 2nd Lieutenant in Company F, 120th Indiana Infantry Regiment. He was promoted to Full 1st Lieutenant on September 9, 1864. He was promoted to Full Captain (not mustered) on September 20, 1865. He mustered out Company F, 120th Indiana Infantry Regiment on January 8, 1866.
Pension index shows disability in 1889. Annie M. Vance filed as widow on January 27, 1910.
