Death: Aug. 23, 2004 Lovell Big Horn County Wyoming, USA

Carma Asay Harper Kocherhans December 12, 1922 -- August 23, 2004 Carma Asay Harper Kocherhans, beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother died quietly in her sleep August 23, 2004, at North Big Horn Hospital in Lovell.

She came into this world just minutes after her twin sister, Norma (Eyre), December 12, 1922, in Lovell, the daughter of Irvin and Dovetta Asay. Irvin said they had only one chance to order girls, so they ordered two. Five sons followed: Arnold I. (Hazel); Donald R. (Betty) preceeded her in death; Ivan C. Lovell; Ernest R.; Gary J. (Glenda), Lovell.

She married Roy Thorne Harper April 28, 1943 in Pleasant Grove, Utah. They were sealed together for all eternity one year later, April 28, 1944, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. Six children blessed their union: Carolyn (David) Cutcher of New Zealand; Roy Lynn (Robyn) Harper of Cowley; Todd Asay (Linda) Harper of Gilbert, Ariz.; Samuel Dean (Bobbi) Harper of Everson, Wash.; Carma Dawn (Wayne) Bond of Lawrenceville, Georgia.

She is preceded in death by her little son, John David, who died as an infant; and her husband, Roy, who died December 11, 1994, in Lovell.

Carma and Henry Ammon Kocherhans rekindled a friendship from their youth, fell in love, and were married March 15, 2000, in the Billings, Mont. LDS Temple. They had four short but wonderful years together, filled with happiness and devotion to one another and their families.

Carma served in many church callings, including Primary and Relief Society Presidents. She was a faithful visiting teacher until her health prevented her from accomplishing her tasks. She also did a great work in geneology. She established a house of order, of peace and love for her companions and posterity which included 25 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. She will be missed but there is assurance that she is establishing just such a place for loved ones in her new home.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Aug. 28, at the Lovell LDS Stake Center. Burial followed in the Lovell Cemetery.
