Dec. 25, 1906--Anna Estelle Barnard Porter gives to Caroline Anne Bonfoey Scovil a book (Henry Van Dyke, The Spirit of Christmas (1905)).
"Mrs. Scovil was a member of the Congregational Church in Higganum, [Connecticut] and there much of her interest was centered. Three years ago [1904] she presented to the society of this church a beautiful pipe organ in memory of her husband." Her husband [Hezekiah Scovil, Jr.] died in 1903 "and from that time it has been her constant wish to join him." As per her 1907 obituary in The Hartford Courant. [The value of the Austin Pipe Organ was $2,500.]
Whitney Daniel Scovil was the only child of Hezekiah Scovil, Jr. and Caroline. The said Whitney Daniel was born Sept. 30, 1861 and died Sept. 28, 1867.
