About Catherine Hower
A longtime employee of the federal government, Hower began her career in Wilkes-Barre in the office of the Bureau of Mines and the Department of the Interior in 1942. She was transferred to Washington, D.C., in 1948. While serving with the Bureau of mines, she was secretary, administrative assistant and technical editor of medical magazines. From 1962 to 1972, Hower was technical editor/writer of public health reports; was associate editor of cancer chemotherapy reports, National Caner Institute; and worked for the War Department (classified).
