Our hearts were saddened by the loss of our loved one, Catherine Carr Williams of Spotsylvania County, who went to be with the Lord on Monday, Jan. 23, 2012, in Richmond.
Born April 7, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Hunter and Bertha "Bertie" Carr. Catherine was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, W. Douglas Williams.
She is survived by her children, Gaynette Williams Martin of Richmond, and William "Bill" Douglas Willams Jr. (and Betsy) and Godfrey Lee Williams, both of Spotsylvania. Catherine also leaves seven grandchildren, Bob Martin, Susan Martin Nichols (and Jeff), Jeff Williams (and Joyce), Michael Williams (and LaRay), Laurie Williams Mitchell (and Mike), the Rev. Justin Williams (and Anita) and Vincent Williams. Catherine also had 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was a lifelong member of Zion United Methodist Church.
Catherine spent her final days surrounded by loved ones whose lives she had touched profoundly. The family would also like to recognize Lillian Gold, her devoted caregiver during her illness.

A funeral will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, Jan. 27, at the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. Barbara Jacobs and the Rev. Justin Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Confederate Cemetery at Spotsylvania Courthouse.
