Ocala Star-Banner (FL) - Saturday, April 18, 2009 Deceased Name: Charles Robert Damon Sr. FL United States DAMON SR., CHARLES ROBERT, 83 Summerfield - Mr. Charles Robert "Chick" Damon, Sr., age 83, of Summerfield, Florida passed away on Monday, April 13, 2009 at his residence. He was born in Northampton, Massachusetts and moved to Summerfield, Florida in 2003 from Ocala, Florida. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during W.W. II, and was a Past Commander of Tanguia-McGill American Legion Post #80 of Enfield, CT. He worked as a Prison Guard for the Connecticut State Prison System for over 23 years. He was a past Fire Chief with the Thompsonville District Volunteer Fire Department, Enfield, CT. and also volunteered with Habitat for Humanity. He is a member of the Brotherhood of St. Andrew at St. Mary's Episcopal; Church of Belleview, FL. and loved woodworking, gardening and traveling. He is survived by his loving wife of (61) years, Leola H. Damon of Summerfield, FL.; his (4) sons, Charles R. Damon, Jr., of Arlington, VA.; Robert Damon of Lebanon, CT.; John Damon of Springfield, MA., and Karl Damon of Enfield, CT.; his (2) daughters, Ruthann Bradley of Springfield, MA., and Lynn Mund of New Hartford, CT.; his (2) sisters, Dorothy Smith of Wilmington, N.C. and Elizabeth Cooley of Enfield, CT.; (4) grandchildren and (5) great-grandchildren. There will be a visitation at the Robert Funeral Homes, Bruce Chapel West, 6241 S.W. State Rd. 200, Ocala, FL. 34476 on Monday, April 20, 2009 from 10:00 am until 12 Noon. Following the visitation, a Celebration of his Life and Risen Life Memorial Service will be at St. Mary's Episcopal Church of Belleview, FL., 5750 S.E. 115th Street at 2:00 PM.
