Chester William Ellis, 79, of Old Orange Factory Rd., died Saturday night in Durham Regional Hospital.
A native of Durham County, he was employed with Burlington Industries for 35 years, retiring in 1974. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Surviving are his wife, Lessie Mae Jacobs Ellis, of the home; one son, Charles Ellis, of Durham; three daughters, Faye Pruitt, of Durham, Betty Smith, of Morrisville, and Brenda Watson, of Durham; one brother, Herbert Ellis; seven sisters, Hattie Ladd, Bertha Jacobs, Blanche Medlin, Jenny Adcock, Callie Mae Fisher, Marie Paschall, and Elaine Medlin; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by two brothers, Samuel and Richard Ellis.
