Christian, the original emigrant, came to Philadelphia from Crefeld, a town on the Lower Rhine in Germany, near the Dutch frontier. It seems that a number of colonists were weavers by trade, and they had requested that Christian Allebach come and establish a cloth making business, as he is described in the Archives of Pennsylvania as being an expert weaver.

He settled in the Skippack region of eastern Pennsylvania with other Dutch Mennonites. While the family name of Allebach is common in Montgomery County, it is not common in the usual sense, that among those 30,000 immigrants listed in the 'Pennsylvania German Pioneers' that came to PA from 1727 until the time of the Revolution, there is not one Allebach. It appears that the family are all descendants of Christian Allebach who came to Pennsylvania sometime before 1727.

Christian was among the early members of the Salford Mennonite congregation and his name appears on an indenture dated 25 Jan 1738. He was one of the executors of the estate of Christian Stauffer in 1735, indicating that he had already married Maria before that date.

Christian Allebach was naturalized in the Supreme Court of PA which met at Philadelphia on April 11 to 13, 1743. He was naturalized by affirmation, as was the custom followed in the case of Mennonites and Quakers who were opposed to taking an oath.
