A graduate of Mount Allison University's commerce program, he owned Keating's Tobacco Shop for many years. He was a member of the Greater Moncton Town Planning Commission, and the NB Provincial Assessment Appeals Board. He was also a volunteer for many community events. An avid golfer and curler, he was a President of the Beaver Curling Club and a Life Member of the Moncton Golf and Country Club. He was a Kinsman and a life member of the Elks Club. He was a President of the Nummies and spent many an enjoyable Friday night in their company.
